Hi, I'm Laryssa—but you can call me Lyss. I've worked on over three million words for leading companies worldwide. Thank you so much for taking the time to look at my portfolio!

I've been consuming books and crafting tales of my own since I first learned to read. On trips, my family often found themselves reminding me to put down my book or my pen to look at the scenery passing by my window. I spent many days lounging by a pool or flying on an airplane with my nose in a book, and whenever we stayed somewhere with a library, its dusty, well-worn covers and buttery leather chairs were my first stop.

I came to relish the musty smell of old books, the crack of a sleek new spine as I eagerly turned pages, and the feel of soft vanilla paper beneath my thumbs. Stories inspired me to explore caves, forests, cliffs, and soft beaches; to adventure up skyscrapers, through long ships, and across underground cities; and to meet new people, learn about different cultures, and even try strange new foods. But while travelling around the world, I never failed to stop in small bookshops and run my fingers over the faded writing in used tomes. Classic tales became forever tied to the hot, bustling streets and quiet beachside carts I found them in.

I soon realized that documents are inextricably linked to stories of our own--what we cherish, where we've been, and what we've learned.

I want to share those stories with others.

Now I have a BA (Hons) and an MA in English language, literature, and creative writing and a PG Cert in publishing. I'm a recipient of the Alistair Macleod Masterful Short Story Award, and I've had the honour of learning from celebrated industry professionals.

These opportunities have translated into experience working on documents from cover to cover. I've sharpened my pencil for non-fiction, novels, copywriting, and everything in between. Some of the niches I have experience in are:

- poetry collections,
- memoirs,
- self-help books,
- business,
- journal articles,
- news articles,
- fiction books

... and more!

I've honed my ability to not only consistently produce excellent work but also develop strong partnerships with others. Every time I snap a project shut with a final thud, it's like saying goodbye to an old friend.

I look forward to building a relationship with you. Together we'll tell a story as unique as you.
